Our Invitations

At last, our ABCD Bespoke Stationery invitations revealed!

First things first... The design process. We wanted the following from our invitations:
  • Color
  • Pattern
  • Letterpress if possible
  • A weekend activity card included
  • No cursive or traditional calligraphy
  • Lots of personality
Amy, as you've already gathered from my bazillion posts complementing her, was up to the challenge. Incorporating red and blue with swirls, dots, and folk art flowers, she gave us everything we wanted and more. Brace yourself for the final creation!

First, a quick recap of our mailing labels and ridiculously gorgeous letterpress envelope liners.

When guests open their envelopes, they pull out a textured navy blue pouchette covered with a letterpress belly band. The belly band was a blogging inspiration I had courtesy of a now-defunct blog (thanks, long-lost Cakes and Dreams!). I fell in love with the idea of telling our "story" to present our invitations. And as a nod to all our fellow political nerds out there, what better way to "introduce ourselves" than with a Constitution joke?!

Turning the pouchette over, guess how our belly band is sealed? With one of our campaign stickers!

Each pouchette was decorated with a personalized name label and another campaign sticker.

When guests open the pouchette, there is a stack of goodness waiting for them. Right on top? The invitation itself!

Let's take a closer look at some of that letterpress action:

Next up, the weekend activity card (I know, boooo blackout, but you know, privacy and all...). "Love At First Debate," for those of you who know our story, should make you grin.

At the bottom we have the adorable RSVP card and gorgeous RSVP envelope. Really, how will everyone part with these to mail back to us?

A closer look at the precious RSVP envelope... I just adore this flower:

Believe it or not, that's not even all! We also have program covers, personal stationery, and a custom rubber stamp... sooooo much ABCD goodness!

Several months ago, when we started shopping in stationery stores for wedding invitations, we quickly realized that most of the choices seemed uninspired, generic, and well... boring. Being able to work with ABCD (and after winning a contest, no less!) and having an entire invitation suite that embodies exactly who we are and exactly what our wedding weekend is about is such a pleasure. So thank you Amy, from both of us.

Those ar AMAZING.

I love your whole theme. I kinda wish I had been creative enough to do something like this for our wedding.

I can't wait to see your pictures!

Wait, but now I need to know if you are both of the same political party. I am sure you wrote that somewhere, but I haven't looked. The Love at First Debate thing is what makes me curious.

Crap, I spelled "are" wrong.

They're fantastic! Love them! I am in love with the red, white and blue and I'm so not usually a fan of that color combo. Love the shade of blue.

Yes, Mrs. Newlywed, we most definitely are of the same political party - but we still sparred with each other the entire first night we met. Although that was more personal than political. ;-)

I couldn't resist looking at this post even though I haven't picked up my invitation from my parent's house yet. Can't wait to see and feel it in person! Will pick it up this weekend at the latest!

Oh my gosh! I didn't want to rip the address label to open the envelope. But I knew if I ripped the back triangle I would be destroying the liner. I waited until Z got home so we could open together. True joy!

Maggie,

Thanks for sharing your stationery wardrobe today in the most FABULOUS way. It's totally fun reading all the comments on your stationery suite.

This is going to be one heck of a wedding - I hope you share the pics on Eat Drink Marry first.

It was a pleasure working with you and your "f" word!
